The 35th annual Dallas Cup is off to a fast start despite a rainy day in north Texas. The twelve Super Group squads will play again on Monday before playing their third group game on Wednesday.
Group A
Both Cortiba and Fulham did their part on Sunday as they speed towards a Wednesday showdown in the bracket. Cortiba defeated IF Brommapojkarna y a 2-0 score line. Meanwhile, star Moussa Dembele led Fulham to a dominating 4-0 victory over FC Dallas. Dembele recently made a start in the EPL as Fulham lost to Everton last month.
Group B
The LA Galaxy played to a 1-1 draw with Anderlecht of Belgium in the two teams opening match . The Galaxy jumped ahead in the first half and had a chance to go comfortably clear but a Jack McBean penalty kick came back off the post. Anderlecht tied the game after the break. A fair result that keeps both sides alive in the bracket as they each face tougher tests in Monday.
Group C
Eintracht Frankfurt and Tigres opened Bracket C play with an entertaining 2-2 draw at Richland College. Both teams look more than capable of getting out of this group. In the other C match, the US Under 20s rallied from a 2-1 halftime deficit scoring two late goals to defeat River Plate 3-2. A Ben Spencer Jr penalty provided the winner with 15 minutes to go.
