Landon Donovan left off World Cup roster by Jurgen Klinsmann

Come on Jurgen Klinsmann.

Americans just don't act this way.  I understand your German heritage and uber competetive nature.  But seriously.  We treat our stars better here in the United States.  Landon Donovan has earned this roster spot just on his body of work for United States Soccer over the past decade.  He is soccer royalty in this country and should be treated as such until the day he dies.

It is obvious Klinsmann has something against Landon.  He has disrespected Donovan repeatedly over the last couple of years.  We will most definitely find out the details soon.  I expect Landon Donovan will keep his mouth shut until after the World Cup and them come out guns firing as will several of the American players.  For nor he is taking the high road and supporting his teammates.   "I was looking forward to playing in Brazil and, as you can imagine, I am very disappointed with today's decision," he wrote.

And seriously.  Do players like DeAndre Yedlin, Julian Green and John Brooks deserve roster spots instead?  I know they play different positions but come on.  John Brooks was a total nightmare last time he wore the red, white and blue.  Sure Yedlin, Green and Johannsson are the future but they will help us none in Brazil.

Landon Donovan can change a game.  Even at 32 he has world class talent.  Maybe not 90 minutes anymore, but wouldn't it be nice to have a Landon Donovan to bring off the bench for the final 25 minutes if we need a goal against Ghana?  What options do we have now?

It goes much deeper than just not having the talent on the team.  This can surely upset the delicate balance in the locker room.  Cohesion and comraderie are huge traits in the game of soccer.  This move by Klinsmann will definitely send shockwaves through the dressing room.  US veterans like Tim Howard, Clint Dempsey, Demarcus Beasley and Omar Gonzalez are not going to take this news well I fear.  Just yesterday Tim Howard said Landon was one of the two or three best players on the time right now!

We could very well end up with a France moment where the Americans imploded from within at the 2006 World Cup.  Or a France moment where they imploded at South Africa 2010.  Before today I felt like we might be able to squeek our way out of the Group of Death if we could get the Ghana game.  Now I am fearing we will go winless and be the flop of the tournament.

It will go either one of two ways.  The team comes together.  Plays admirably and gets results in Brazil.  Klinsmann is vindicated and Landon is not missed.
OR
It is a total disaster and it ends up costing Jurgen Klinsmann his job.  I fear this will be the case.
