Seattle Sounders unveil Clint Dempsey then smash FC Dallas

It was the worst possible time to play the Seattle Sounders.  Especially for a team struggling in the midst of a long winless streak like FC Dallas.  The Sounders were giddy from the announcement that US stud Clint Dempsey would be joining them after being bought from Tottenham of the English Premier League.

No surprise that Seattle came out flying and forced FCD all star keeper Raul Fernandez to make a pair of good saves in the opening minutes.  Fernandez tried his best but was unable to keep the home side off the board though.

A well-taken freekick from Mauro Rosales was headed home by Obafemi Martins and minutes later Eddie Johnson made it 2-0 as he finished past Fernandez.  The match was pretty much over from there.  FC Dallas never even managed to record a shot on goal the entire night even though new signing Mauro Diaz did narrowly miss twice in the second half.

A stoppage time penalty kick from Brad Evans sealed the 3-0 result keeping FC Dallas on the losing foot and in a freefall down the MLS Western Conference standings.  Once atop the conference Dallas has fallen all the way to 6th place and in the midst of nine matches without a win.

Seattle now look poised to go on a winning streak and climb up the standings.  With the likes of Eddie Johnson, Clint Dempsey, Shalrie Joseph and Obafemi Martins they are sure to field on the the most potent attacks in MLS.  They are legitimate MLS Cup contenders now!
