Sporting Kansas City is looking the class of the MLS Eastern Conference.  They will be a true force in a two game playoff series in the playoffs for sure and odds on favorites for a place in the MLS Cup.

On Friday night they continued their winning ways with a 2-0 win over the Chicago Fire.  Young Graham Zusi was the man of the match as he notched both goals while the defense was once again in fine form.  Zusi was flying around like he had been the big winner on Party Casino earlier in the day!  The shutout was goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen's league leading 14th of the season.

Kansas City is unbeaten in their last nine matches and beat the Fire for the first time since 2007 in KC.  Sporting raced out to an early lead as Zusi scored in the 11th minute of play.

Chicago hung around though and gave themselves a chance as they kept it 1-0 until late in the match.  Everytime the Fire looked like they were onto something dangerous they would squander the opportunity with a poor decision.

There was late drama too as Chicago manager Frank Klopas and Fire defender Gonzalo Segares were both ejected in second-half stoppage time, Klopas drawing a straight red card from referee Chris Penso and Segares picking up his second caution.

The win puts Sporting Kansas City on 58 points on the season as they moved 5 points clear of 2nd place Chicago.
