FC Dallas rolling again, tops Western Conference

The rest of the MLS should take notice.  FC Dallas, the defending Supporters Shield and US Open Cup champs, are rolling once again and is sitting atop the Western Conference standings heading into the Gold Cup.  The deepest roster in MLS has their eyes squarely bigger things this season.

Despite missing Kellyn Acosta, Maynor Figueroa and Matt Hedges to national team duties the team has been taking care of business.  The talented roster depth is showing through.  While most of the MLS teams are having trouble replacing missing players, FCD is rolling along scoring 17 goals in their last seven MLS matches.

“That level of confidence has been increased,” Coach Oscar Pareja said. “That level of confidence has been increased.”“Our forwards have been more polished in their finishing… The decision making is better. The boy are getting their confidence back as well because they always create a lot of chances.”

The scary part is that new signing Roland Lamah has found his footing after a slow start to his MLS career.  He has notched a pair of goals in two straight MLS matches and Lamah has found the net nine times in his last seven games.  Between he and Michael Barrios, FCD possesses quite a winger duo.

FC Dallas and Sporting Kansas City sit even on 31 points in the MLS Western Conference standings with FCD having played one less game.  FCD have a break from MLS play until July 22nd when they travel to disappointing Montreal. On July 11th FC Dallas will travel to Sporting KC for a US Open Cup quarterfinal clash.
