The Copa America Centenario 2016 Draw

Tonight we found out the final draw for the Copa America Centenario which will be played right here in the United States this summer.  Celebrating one hundred years of the Copa America, the tournament will feature sixteen national teams from the Americas.  Highlighting the field are world powers Argentina and Brazil who were given top seeds in their own groups.

There will be four groups of four teams each with the top two finishers in each bracket advancing to quarterfinal knockout rounds culminating with a grand final to be played at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.  Defending Copa America Champions Chile were drawn into Group D and will open against powerful Argentina on June 6th.  Mexico will face a stiff test in their opening game as well playing Uruguay on June 5th in Phoenix.

The United States will open with a difficult test as they will face Colombia on June 3rd in Santa Clara, California. Then the team will travel to Chicago to face CONCACAF rivals Costa Rica before closing group play in Philadelphia against Paraguay.
