It was a dominant performance from upstarts Peru as they blasted an outmatched Bolivia squad 3-1 in a Copa America quarterfinal. Truthfully the match was not even as close as the score indicates. Peru outshot Bolivia by a whopping 29 - 8 count and if it weren't for some poor finishing the score would have been much worse.
Bolivia simply did not show up. Las Incas were 2-0 in front within the opening half hour of play as Guerrero netted twice in a three minute span to the delight of the Peru supporters. The first goal was knocked home by Guerrero from a Juan Manuel Vargas cross with the second coming only minutes later on a nice counter attack. Bolivia would gift Peru their third goal in the 74th minute when a disastrous backpass left Guerrero in on goal.
Marcelo Martins Moreno scored a late penalty for Bolivia but it was mere consolation and Ricardo Gareca's men will now face hosts Chile on Monday in Santiago in the final four.
Peru have been the breakout squad at the 2015 Copa America surprising everyone with their lightning fast attacking soccer. The task will be tall for Peru though as they will be clear underdogs on Chile's home turf, but do not count out the plucky side. If they could grab an early goal Pery could make things difficult for Chile and perhaps steal a spot in the Copa America final.
