Clint Dempsey saves Tottenham at the death

Clint Dempsey to the rescue.  In a goal that will be long remembered at White Hart Lane, an injury time goal from Clint Dempsey earned Tottenham a 1-1 draw with EPL leaders Manchester United.

It was the the thing movies are made of.  A pounding snow storm. A deficit against the powerful Manchester United.  Time running out.  Then a bit of magic saves the day.

Aaron Lennon picked up a rebound deep in the United penalty area and pulled a ball across to Clint Dempsey who slotted home the tying goal.  The stadium erupted as Clint Dempsey and Tottenham celebrated.

It was a well deserved goal.  After Robin Van Persie had staked Manchester to the lead, Tottenham had numerous chances.  They would have been left shaking their heads had they not gotten a result on the day.  Scott Parker curled a chance over the bar and Dempsey was stopped on a golden opportunity early in the 2nd half.  It's not often you see Manchester United almost run off the field, but today Tottenham were much the better team.

The result leaves the EPL race a bit more open as the closest two challengers both won on the weekend.  Chelsea knocked off Arsenal 2-1 and Manchester City defeated Fulham 2-0 on Saturday.  City trails United by 5 points while Chelsea is a distant 10 behind.
