Clear Message Sent. Tottenham signaled to leaders Leicester City that they are coming and the pressure is on. Spurs travelled to Stoke City to face a tricky test on Monday night and left emphatic 4-0 winners.
It wasn't much of a match at all truthfully as Stoke were almost never dangerous. Only a single strike from Arnautovic caused the visitors any trouble at all. With a bit better finishing Tottenham would have run out monster victors instead of only 4-0.
Of course it was England star in the making Harry Kane who opened the scoring with a beautiful curling shot that found the side netting in the 9th minute of play. Christian Eriksen nearly doubled the lead but saw his strike come back off the crossbar. Coach Mauricio Pochettino was an unhappy man that his side only led 1-0 at the break. It should have been more and he made his thoughts known.
The second half was all one way traffic as Stoke had no answers for the flowing Spurs attack. Dele Alli took over and should have had a hat trick on his own in the half. He scored twice and somehow missed an empty net in between. Any way around it though this youngster is a major talent!
This young Tottenham side is very good and should be a force for years to come in the EPL. Can they track down Leicester City? Probably not. Spurs trail by five points with only four matches left to play. Leicester will be missing their star striker Jamie Vardy on the weekend but they'll only need two wins from their final four for the title.
Next up for Tottenham is a game at White Hart Lane next Monday against West Brom while Leicester City will host Swansea. On paper it looks like three points for both sides next weekend. But with Spurs playing like they are currently Leicester better focus.
