Chelsea upsets Liverpool opening EPL title race

Surprise Surprise.  Just when you thought you didn't.  Jose Mourinho ran out a B-side to face 1st place Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday as he rested players for the big midweek Champions League match with Athletico Madrid.  Then his B-side upset Liverpool 2-0 throwing the EPL title race wide open once again.

Once again Mourinho parked the bus and once again it was rewarded.  Despite allowing Liverpool 69% of the possession and 26 shots at goal, Chelsea scored in injury time of both halves for the shock upset.  It's ashame that Mourinho continues to be rewarded for his negative soccer.  I don't think it does the EPL any good at all.

Demba Ba scored late in first half stoppage time and substitue Willian scored late in second half stoppage time.  And on the day Luis Suarez was named the PFA Player of the Year he slumped to a lackluster effort in what might end up costing his side the EPL title.

Mourinho was once again outspoken after the match.  "The best team won," assessed Mourinho. 'The team that deserved to win more won, simple. That's my opinion."

Coupled with the Man City win at Crystal Palace, a race that was Liverpool's to win is once again open.  If Manchester City win their game in hand they will be even with Liverpool on 80 points and have a superior goal differential.  Chelsea is also back in the mix sitting on 78 points.  They will still need stumbles by City and Liverpool, but we have definitely seen anything can happen.
