Charlie Austin firing QPR up the table

Who saw this one coming before the season began?  Charlie Austin among the leaders in scoring in the entire English Premier League.  Just six years ago he was working as a bricklayer and playing for Wessex League side Poole Town.  A Swindon scout discovered him and now he is the third leading goal scorer in the entire English Premier League for Queens Park Rangers.  What a ride!

Last year he found the net 17 times in the Championship leading QPR to promotion.  Today Charlie Austin notched a hat trick to rally QPR from a 2-0 deficit in the 3-2 win over West Bromwich Albion.  Don't look now but QPR have moved out of the bottom three and are up into 15th.

Fans have Charlie Austin to thank along with a wonderful home form that has seen the team only beaten twice in nine appearances at Loftus Road.  All 17 of QPR's points have come on home soil.  On the other hand the squad has earned zero points away from home.  Zero from eight matches with a goal differential of 3-20.  Ouch.  Luckily three of QPR's next five are at home.

Charlie Austin just keeps scoring goals.  It doesn't matter at which level he is playing.  48 goals in non league.  31 goals in League One.  41 goals in the Championship. Now he already has 11 and the season is not even half over.  Only Sergio Aguero and Diego Costa have netted more so far. Impressive for sure!

If QPR can survive the promotion season it will be in large part because of Charlie Austin putting the ball in the net.
