Virginia won the 2009 ACC Soccer Tournament with a convincing 1-0 win over North Carolina State Sunday afternoon in Cary, North Carolina.  Will Bates put Virginia in front in the 15th minute and Virginia kept up the pressure all afternoon as they outshot NC State 15-8.  Wolfpack goalkeeper Christopher Widman kept the game close making several good saves.

Virginia keeper Diego Restrepo was named MVP for the ACC Tournament as he did not allow a goal the whole week.  In fact it was Virginia's 8th straight shutout and the team is unbeaten in eleven games.  It was North Carolina State's first appearance in the ACC Championship match since 1990.

Winning an ACC Championship is fantastic," Virginia coach George Gelnovatch said. "I told our guys afterwards, the goal now is to get back to Cary (for the NCAA College Cup semifinals and finals), and that's in four weeks. We'll enjoy this one today, and we'll get ourselves ready for the NCAA tourney."

The NCAA will announce the pairings on Monday afternoon on ESPNews.
