Top ranked Maryland stayed perfect in ACC Soccer play as they moved to 3-0-0 with a solid road win at Virginia Tech this weekend.  John Stertzer netted the game winner in the 29th minute of play as he fired home a freekick from Karou Forbes.  Casey Townsend scored his ninth goal of the season just before halftime.  Once again it was Forbes on the assist.

The Maryland defense took over from there as goalkeeper Will Swaim made three second half saves to protect the shutout.  It was their fifth shutout of the year as Maryland moves to 8-0-1.

Next up for the top ranked team in the nation is a midweek home match against Charlotte followed by a clash with undefeated Creighton on the weekend as the team takes a break from ACC play.

Elsewhere in ACC play, North Carolina stayed in 2nd place with a dominating 3-0 win over Virginia while Duke crushed Wake Forest 4-1 behind a pair of goals from Andrew Wenger.
