Real Madrid and Juventus sitting pretty after 1st leg

It has only taken one leg of the Champions League semifinal to pretty much decide who will be meeting in the coming Final.  Both Real Madrid and Juventus posted emphatic victories in their opening matches to all but book a place to play for the European title.

Cristiano Ronaldo has clearly cemented his spot as the best player in the world firing home another hat trick on Tuesday as Real Madrid blasted Athletico Madrid at the Bernabau. A complete performance against a tricky and skilled Athletic side. They'll still have to manage the return leg away, but I don't think anyone can see this scoreline flipping.

Then on Wednesday Juventus travelled to Monaco and taught the young side a lesson as their veterans played a complete match.  Ageless keeper Gianluigi Buffon was wonderful as always and the Monaco defense had no answers for Gonzalo Higuain.  Carrying a 2-0 lead heading back to Italy looks almost insurmountable even for the youthful ideals of Monaco.

Barring absolute craziness in the return legs it looks almost assured as a Real Madrid v Juventus final.  The powerful Cristiano Ronaldo led attack against the well rounded team of Juventus. Should be a fascinating Final between two squads with contrasting styles and tactics.
