Corinthians defeat Chelsea for Club World Cup Title

It was the battle everyone expected.  The champions of Europe, Chelsea.  The champions of South America, Corinthians of Brazil.

For all the expectations, truthfully it was a quiet opening half of play.  Neither side generated clear cut scoring opportunities.

Chelsea had the best chances of the 45 but Corinthians keeper Cassio denied both Gary Cahill and Victor Moses shots.  The netminder would clearly be the man of the match at the end of the night.

The second half would produce the goal.  It looked to belong to Chelsea though as Eden Hazard got behind the Brazilian defense.  Once again it was Cassio to the rescue though as he smothered Hazard's chance leaving the Chelsea star shaking his head.

Corinthians finally broke the scoreless draw with twenty minutes remaining. Paulinho raced into the Chelsea penalty box where he played to Danilo who cut inside to shoot. His shot deflected off Cahill upwards, leaving Petr Cech on the floor.  Paolo Guerrero had the simple finish as he headed past three Blues defenders on the line.

The Brazilian team became only the second side to win the Club World Cup more than once.
