Champions League quarterfinal draw for 2014

Ahhh the quarterfinals of the Champions League. It would have to be my favorite round of the entire competition. The final eight teams ready to battle it out in front of the world.

Barcelona got the exact draw they did not want to see as they were matched up against fellow Spanish side Atletico Madrid. Really anyone else would have been fine. Atletico is very good this year and will have all the motivation to beat their monster La Liga rivals. Should be a battle with bodies flying as when the top La Liga sides get together there is no mercy given.

Manchester United did not get any help either. Trying to salvage their disaster of a season, ManU were drawn against powerful Bayern Munich. So much for the good feelings of the comeback against Olympiakos. At least this time they'll be playing as the underdog. Aftr taking out Arsenal in the last round, Bayern Munich will look to take out their second successive English side.

Real Madrid drew Borussia Dortmund and get a chance at revenge. Last year Dortmund took out Madrid in the semifinal round. But can the German side stay with both Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale? Should be interesting for sure. Dortmund will be missing star striker Robert Lewandowski for the first leg due to suspension.

Chelsea, the 2012 champions, take on French side Paris Saint-Germain. The two sides have not met since 2005. PSG is experiencing a major revival and this matchup gives them a chance to really announce their arrival. Chelsea would be a big scalp for the French squad. They definitely have the firepower to take out Mourinho and Chelsea.

Barcelona v Atletico Madrid
Manchester United v Bayern Munich
Real Madrid v Borussia Dortmund
Chelsea v Paris St Germain
